INKANYISO CONSULTING
Inkanyiso Consulting is a dynamic development consultancy operating mostly in the Construction and Built Environment sectors, with a unique and innovative focus on BEE. Established in KZN in 2003, the company now also has offices in the Free State and the Eastern Cape. Inkanyiso is a majority Black-owned company specialising in socially developmental infrastructure delivery and support services. Clients include National and various Provincial Government Departments, Municipalities and individual private sector clients. The company is equipped to deliver on capital intensive projects and Labour Intensive solutions. Over 10 staff members are LIC NQF5 compliant and have experience on the infrastructure sector of the EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme). Over 100 emerging contractors undertaking works in excess of R 200 million, are receiving mentorship, business and project support from Inkanyiso across 3 provinces, while 13 municipalities and 5 provincial departments are receiving technical support services from the company.
Principals of Inkanyiso Consulting include former Stocks Housing Director Jonathan Knight who is the current CEO; former Head of Housing for the Ehtekwini Metro Council, Maurice Makhathini; JSE-listed Enaleni Pharmaceuticals and Cymax (Construction) co-founder, Nhlanhla (Max) Sithole, and Haydn Osborn, head of the IMS group of companies with interests in IT, Finance for the Emerging Sector and Consulting in various development fields.
BARRIE COPPIN
Barrie Coppin has 20 years experience in business and consulting. He has a BA from the University of Natal and an MBA from the University of Cape Town. He is currently studying towards an LLM in environmental law at the University of KZN.
As a consultant he has worked for and with number of listed and private companies, NGO's and various government departments. These included Anglo-American, Appletiser, Goldfields, KWV, Darbel, US-AID, Namibian Government, Accenture, Proudfoot and the SA Dept. of Trade and Industry. This work involved operations improvement, change management, strategic planning, feasibility studies and systems development.
His strategic economic planning along with system and policy design offers companies the means to benefit from carbon credits by supporting environmental initiatives in energy saving and other eco-sensitive projects.
SUSTAINABLEWORKS
Sustainable Works is a consultancy based in Durban that has a specific focus on the application of appropriate technology systems in both rural and urban environments, including solar cooking, rainwater harvesting, bio-gas generation and grey-water treatment. These are 2 of South Africa’s foremost “Planet Mechanics”.
Richard Pocock is a computer mainframe engineer but has diverse expertise in Biofuels, Renewable Energy Systems, Solar Cooker and Stove Design, Permaculture, Electronics. He is the inventor of both a patented vortex-driven ethanol gel stove, (a highly efficient and extremely safe domestic cooking stove) and of the "Sun Catcher", (a patented collapsible solar cooker.) His knowledge base, skill set and passion for the environment make him a valuable and credible member of the ISS team.
Jean-Francois Philippe Pitot de la Beaujardiere, is completing the Degree of Master of Science in Engineering (Mechanical) at University of KwaZulu-Natal. His research Interests are Renewable Energy Generation, Storage and Distribution, Biofuels, Carbon Sequestration, Composite Materials, Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics. Jean’s passion for finding new technologies for sustainability makes Jean a valuable and resourceful member of the ISS team.
PAULA OSBORN
Paula Osborn is the founding member of Earthfirst cc and primary author of Earthfirst's Integrated Sustainable Development Strategy: 2004. The focus of this strategy was to view the necessary environmental upliftment processes as an opportunity for socio-economic development in order to address a range of critical issues our society faces NOW and in the future.
Her environmental work since 1996 includes: organic farming and vermi-composting, erosion control and reforestation, fund-raising for protection of ancient forests in the U.S.A. and South America; assisting specialist scientists in collecting and cataloguing ancient Mayan Corn seed in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize; and collecting and propagating rare species of orchid in Ecuador, and a rare species of Lily in Northern California.
Paula has been actively involved in developing new strategies for organic agriculture capacity building, and since 2003 has been active in exposing critical issues like GMO’s and Peak Oil as severe threats to global food security.
Paula's unique skill set, her critical thinking and passion in environmental and social issues bring to ISS a unifying ethos and heart-felt concern for South Africa's environment and its people now, as well as for the generations to come. |
