ENERGY SAVING PRODUCTS
ENERGY SAVING is the most important objective in dealing with the current energy crises AND for developing a long-term view for sustainable energy management. For example, there is little point in finding and installing new ways to produce energy when we are often very wasteful and unproductive with it to start with. Renewable energy production is more viable when our excess energy consumption has been somewhat curtailed through a number of energy saving interventions . . .

a. SOLAR WATER HEATING
The most immediately economically viable energy investment any household can make, Solar Water Heating will create the largest impact on overall energy demand. With a network of local service providers, ISS will identify the specific solution and product for individual clients, and design its integration into their systems. Additional services such as pipe lagging and geyser insulation are offered as part of this service.
b. BIO-DIGESTION BASED METHANE GAS PRODUCTION
Bio-digesters were primarily designed as waste treatment systems that produce methane as a by-product. Small-holdings and schools are the most obvious candidates for bio-digesters. Production of methane can be used as an energy production system when linked to a natural gas generator. Methane is MOST suitable and viable as an energy source for cooking and heating, as these are our most energy demanding requirements. Small and medium projects are expected to arise through provincial government support. ISS is however currently developing and testing a small domestic application bio-digester and will soon bring to market a viable and cost-effective bio-digester to cope with a organic wastes to supply your home with methane gas for back-up cooking and heating, or ultimately replace electrical cooking and heating altogether.
c. REFRACTORY CERAMIC ROOF COATING
By coating your roof with a refractive coating reduces the heat absorption of roof tiles by up to 50%. This insulating intervention is 80% more effective than any internal insulating methods currenty used in households. This relatively simple intervention could reduce the energy consumption of air conditioners by 33 - 50%. This is one of the most critical energy saving interventions for any air-conditioned home. Those without air-conditioning, this product will reduce the residual transferred heat, making your house cool and comfortable, negating the need for air-conditioning completely.
d. SOLAR COOKING
ISS team member, Richard Pocock is the inventor and manufacturer of the “Sun Catcher”, a patented collapsible solar cooker featured prominently in solar cooking information resources, worldwide. This is the ideal product for camping or for those without fuel resources to cook a healthy stew where nutrients can never be boiled away. |
